A Living Map of Hope Across America
The Trail of Hope Map is a growing visual representation of lives touched through the Growing Smiles Community Outreach Program by AASP THEY MATTER. Each sunflower pin placed on the map represents a person, family, or community taking part in planting seeds of hope.
More than a display, this map tells a story. It shows that hope can grow in many places, in many hearts, and through many hands. From one planted sunflower to another, this trail continues to spread a reminder that every life matters.

Why Sunflowers?
Sunflowers naturally turn toward the light. That is one of the reasons they have become such a meaningful symbol within this program. In difficult seasons of life, we believe hope works much the same way. Even when life feels heavy, broken, or uncertain, there is still value in reaching for light.
Through this project, a sunflower becomes more than a flower. It becomes a symbol of remembrance, resilience, support, growth, and the power of planting one seed at a time.
More Than a Map
The Trail of Hope Map is not about numbers alone. It is about people.
It is about the mother planting in memory of a child. It is about the friend planting in honor of someone they love. It is about the family choosing to spread kindness in their neighborhood. It is about the person in a hard season who needs a reason to keep going.
Every pin placed is a reminder that hope is still moving. Every sunflower planted is a reminder that kindness still grows. Every life represented is a reminder that they matter.

The trail continues with every hand that plants, every heart that remembers, and every life that chooses hope.
