Safety Plan

Navigating Life's Toughest obstacles Together

"I went to a mental health clinic, and saw 5 different crisis counselors. At the end of my visit, they gave me half printed materials, and did not go over how I was supposed to fill it out. As I read through the pages (of the ones I could read) I thought to myself, 'They should have did this instead'." - Anonymous Survivor

What is a Safety Plan?

A Safety Plan is a written list of your own personal coping strategies. It also consist of supporting you before and after a crisis takes place.

AASP THEY MATTER has created the I MATTER ALERT CARD and GET TO KNOW ME BEFORE YOU JUDGE ME sheet. This card and sheet will help others, and yourself understand your specific triggers, specific intervention strategies (how to better communicate with you, understand you, who to call for you, and what to do).

It is important to understand this does not replace professional help. This is a resource tool to simply help you and others better understand you.
