Vulnerability should never become someone else’s content.

NOT YOUR CONTENT

Not Your Content is an awareness project created to confront the growing issue of vulnerable individuals being recorded, shared, mocked, or exposed online during some of the hardest moments of their lives.

Mission

Our mission for the Not Your Content Project is simple: when someone is in a vulnerable moment in their life, reach for care - not for your camera.

Vision

Our vision for the Not Your Content Project is to help create a world where people protect each other during hard moments instead of recording them.

We envision a world where people protect one another in moments of crisis, where dignity is honored, and where no one’s pain is turned into entertainment, gossip, profit, or public humiliation.

The Not Your Content Project exists to remind communities that suffering should never be exploited.

People are not content.

They are human...and They matter.

The Care Over Camera Promise

I Promise:

  • I promise that when I see someone in a vulnerable moment, I will choose care over a camera.

  • I will not record, post, mock, share, or exploit someone who is experiencing a medical emergency, mental health crisis, withdrawal, trauma response, homelessness, grief, intoxication, emotional breakdown, or any moment where they cannot fully protect their own dignity.

  • I will pause before I film.

  • I will think before I share.

  • I will check on the person if it is safe to do so.

  • I will call for help when help is needed.

  • I will protect their privacy.

  • I will remember that someone’s lowest moment is not my content.

By adding my name, I am standing with the Not Your Content Project and making a promise to help create a culture where vulnerable people are met with compassion, not cameras.

Vulnerability should never become someone else’s content.

I choose care.

The Dignity Wall

Every name on this wall represents someone choosing care over cameras. These are the people standing for dignity, compassion, and protection when someone is in a vulnerable moment.

Mathew Falk

People should always be first. Love and compassion heals all.

When a person is recorded, posted, mocked, or shared during a vulnerable moment without care or consent, they are being exploited. I was exploited by a friend when I was at a very low moment in my life.
